My bricks are falling apart, what can stop this?

Spalling is the most commonly found failure with brick in cold climates. It is caused by freeze/thaw events. Moisture gets in the pores of the masonry unit, then freezes and expands, forcing the brick to crack apart. Unfortunately, once this occurs, there is no saving the brick. The bricks that have failed, must be replaced. Luckily with current tools, individual bricks can be extracted without disturbing the rest of the bricks.

I do not like the color of my brick, is it safe to paint the brick?

It is not good to paint any exterior masonry. All masonry materials need to breathe. Once the surface of the masonry is painted, any moisture that gets in the masonry cannot escape and will cause the brick or stone to fail. It is recommended that you stain your brick to a color that you like.

If it an ugly brick that is inside your home that you are wanting to change, such as around a fireplace, then that is safe. The paint will not harm the brick.

Do you do concrete driveways?

No. The only concrete flatwork we do is small sections like small patios, stairs, and walkways.
